Release of Discussion Paper On Remote Participation And Employment Services

The Federal Government released its discussion paper on the future of remote participation and employment services in mid August 2011.

Minister for Indigenous Employment and Economic Development Mark Arbib, Minister for Indigenous Affairs Jenny Macklin and Minister for Employment Participation Kate Ellis said that the Government is committed to improving remote participation and employment services and that new remote services would be in place from 1 July, 2013.

The strategy aims to improve remote participation and employment services as part of a broader Federal strategy to ensure that Indigenous Australians have the same opportunities as all Australians – to get an education, find a job, start their own business, own their own home and provide for their families.

The Government is calling for comments and submissions to the review based on the discussion paper. Comments or feedback on the discussion paper are welcome by 12 October 2011. Comments can be submitted in writing to remoteservices@deewr.gov.au.

The discussion paper and further information on the timing and locations for the consultation forums is available at www.deewr.gov.au/rsr.
