On 28 July 2011 the Federal Court, sitting at Yambuk, recognised the native title rights and interests of the Gunditjmara people and the Eastern Maar people. The orders in the determination recognise shared native title rights and interests of the Gunditjamara people and Eastern Maar people in land and waters in the vicinity of the Eumeralla River in south western Victoria. It includes the culturally significant Deen Maar Island, as well as some coastal waters. It is the fourth native title determination to be made in Victoria.
